A Hollow Tree
4-08-07

"Hiding in a hollow tree
(you'll find me.)"

There's a mystery running through my veins,
a fading lyric I can never escape.
There's a pen and mind that draw me
into a web of tears and sunlight
where the melodies are slightly off key.

And you can call me a psycho.
You can write songs about stalkers like me.
But I'm just like you my queen,
waiting for the rain to meet its end.

Thousands of poets across the face of time
have cast forth their word and breath.
And thousands of artists have released their songs
to feed the starving masses.

And you may call me another fan,
a blurred face among the crowd,
but I hear you when you sing the stories
that thread through your every note.

And you can call me a psycho,
you can write songs about stalkers like me.
But I'm just like you my queen,
wondering where the stars have gone.

The words have been drained from these fingers.
Deep words I long to give you.
And I can't speak
I need to hear you
again.

Though I stand gazing from the parking lot,
not even worthy enough to stand on the sidelines,
I honor you,
my breath and inspiration,
l'Amy.

(The last line is Frenglish, French and English. It means, the Amy. Props to you if you can work this one out.)

I'm guessing it's got something to do with Evanescence, or at least Amy Lee?

lol. yeah. the last bit is modeled after the meter of one of her old songs, and the repeated things refer to one of her new songs she wrote about her stalker. No, it wasn't me.
